よかとこ佐賀と言うラジオ番組で佐賀県央地区にある八幡岳(763.6m)と作礼山(887.1m)を紹介していた。作礼山には登った記憶が朧げながらある。八幡岳には登ったことがない。
八幡岳頂上には八幡大菩薩が鎮座しており、これが山の名前の由来である。八幡神は仏教を守護する神として信仰された。作礼山の名前の由来は知らない。

A radio program called Yokatoko Saga introduced Mt. Hachiman (763.6m) and Mt. Sakurei (887.1m) in the central erea of Saga prefecture. I have vague memories of climbing Mount Sakurei. I have never climbed Mt. Hachiman.
Hachiman Daibosatsu(Great Bodhisattva) is enshrined at the summit, which is the origin of the name of the mountain. Hachiman deity was worshiped as a guardian deity of Buddhism.
I don't know the origin of the name of Mt.Sakurei.
