台風の中心気圧、風速の測り方をネットで調べた。以前は米軍の飛行機から気圧計を落として測っていた時代もあったが、1974年頃からはドヴォラック方式(Dvorak method)で衛星画像の雲の形から気圧や風速を推定する方法が使われている。
ハリケーンでは今も飛行機を(おそらくドヴォラック方式と併用)使っている。

I looked up how to measure the central pressure and wind speed of a typhoon on the internet. In the past, there was a time when barometers were dropped from US military planes, but from around 1974, the Dvorak method was used to estimate air pressure and wind speed from the shape of clouds in satellite images.
